Niantic, Inc., a global leader in augmented reality technology, and Tokyo Legacy Parks have announced a strategic partnership to introduce innovative AR experiences to Meiji Park. Through this collaboration, the two companies aim to enhance visitor engagement and appreciation of Meiji Park by creating a captivating AR experience titled “Niantic Park.”
Leveraging Niantic’s advanced AR technology, “Niantic Park” will provide visitors with immersive and interactive experiences throughout Meiji Park. By utilizing Niantic’s Scaniverse and Visual Positioning System (VPS), a detailed 3D map of Meiji Park will be created. Developers will be able to build AR experiences and services directly tied to precise locations throughout the park for all to enjoy and share.
In addition to these new AR experiences, in the future, visitors can also expect to encounter familiar Niantic games such as Ingress, Pokémon GO, Pikmin Bloom, Peridot, and Monster Hunter Now within Meiji Park, offering new ways to explore and enjoy the park.
“We are delighted to partner with Niantic, a world-class company, to bring a special AR experience to the Metropolitan Meiji Park and bring a new level of fun to visitors”, says Toshio Kawaji, Representative Director, Tokyo Legacy Parks K.K. “We hope that this initiative will further enhance the appeal of Meiji Park and attract more visitors, both domestic and international.”
“We are thrilled to partner with Tokyo Legacy Parks to bring the future of AR to Meiji Park,” said Setsuto Murai, VP, Niantic. “By combining Niantic’s AR expertise with Tokyo Legacy Parks’ deep knowledge of Meiji Park, we can create unique and memorable experiences for visitors.”
