Today, alongside the global launch of the Niantic Lightship developer platform, we’re thrilled to establish Niantic Ventures to help identify and fund the AR leaders of tomorrow.
With Niantic Ventures, a $20 million fund, we’ll be co-investing alongside venture and angel investors in early-stage AR companies. We want to be a catalyst for the AR ecosystem, and invite founders and investors to join us in building companies that share our vision for the Real-World Metaverse.
At Niantic, we believe technology can benefit people and society, by connecting the real world with the digital one. That’s why today we launched Niantic Lightship, a platform that enables developers to create a world that can be overlaid with digital creations — whether that’s in commerce, art, music, sports, social networking, gaming or education, shared among millions of users.
As we approach the next shift in computing platforms, we think this technology can make a positive impact in people’s lives and we want to enlist as many people to build with us as possible.
Investing in the community
Building this future will require hard work over a long period of time. We’re grateful for all the help and advice Niantic received in our early years, and for the ongoing support from our investors and the community. We want to provide that kind of support to founders who share our vision for the future.
If you’re a founder, we want to hear from you. If you’re a venture or angel investor, we want to partner with you to find and invest in teams and companies that will challenge the incumbents as we build this augmented reality future. To learn more please visit Niantic Ventures.
