I’m excited to share that Jonny Thaw will be joining Niantic next week as our new VP of Communications. With over 20 years of experience in journalism, communications and marketing, he will oversee Niantic’s growing reputational goals in real-world AR leadership and social good.

Prior to joining Niantic, Jonny spent 11 years at Facebook, most recently as director of product marketing at Facebook Reality Labs for privacy, new technology platforms, and research initiatives. Before that, he was a VP of communications.

Jonny was previously U.S. technology team leader for Bloomberg News, where he led a team of reporters and editors covering global technology companies. After graduating from the University of Oxford, he was a management consultant with Accenture and a journalist.

Jonny’s deep understanding of the technology industry and his experience leading communications teams will be invaluable to telling the story of the work we do every day, in service of our AR creators, our Niantic Explorer communities, and, at the center of it all, our mission of facilitating real-world social exploration. I’m thrilled to welcome Jonny to Niantic.
