Our games and apps are designed to enable you to interact in shared worlds, and provide an experience tied to your real world location. Because our games are location based, we work to ensure safe and enjoyable exploration while preventing harm and protecting user privacy.
Our games are populated with in-game locations created from historical sites, public artwork, user-submitted destinations, or sponsored business locations. They exist in many places, including trails, parks, and urban areas. Through Wayfarer, our one of a kind community mapping program, we empower players to review and nominate points of interest that get added to our platform and help our community find new and interesting places to explore.
We have criteria for what points of interest, or Wayspots, are acceptable, and using our nomination and review process, our community identifies great places for exploration, exercise, and socialization. Safety considerations are built into this process, such as ensuring there is pedestrian access to a location, or that Wayspots are not on private property. The safety of any given area depends on the user, the time of day, and many other factors, and we encourage you to be aware of your surroundings and use your best judgment.
To help promote your safety, we encourage you to review the following tips before meeting other players in person:
- Tell friends and family your plans and when and where you’re going.
- Use a live location sharing app or function to share your location with a family member or friend during your meet up.
- If you’re meeting people for the first time, arrange to meet in an active public place.
- Be in control of your transportation to and from your meeting location. Have a back up plan such as using a rideshare app or having a friend pick you up.
We use your location information to provide an in-game experience tied to your real world location. We do not sell your location data. We encourage you to read our privacy policy to learn about what information we collect, how we use it, and what choices you have when you use our games and apps.
If you see signs of suspicious activity or if someone is violating our player guidelines, report the individual.
