Niantic games are free to download and play, but offer optional in-app purchases using real money. These purchases can replenish items, unlock enhancements, or grant entry to special in-game events. Purchase amounts vary from $0.99 to $99.99.
In most cases, users exchange real money for a virtual in-game currency that they can spend on in-game purchases (such as Pokéballs or Energy). Users can also earn limited amounts of virtual in-game currency for free.
Payments are handled by Apple on iOS and Google on Android so we don’t collect any payment information for in-game purchases. When spending real money in our games, users are always made aware of the purchase price, contents of the game item bundles purchased and that the transaction involves real money.
If you ever have a question or concern about something you, your child or teen purchased, please contact us. We have a dedicated team to address purchase issues. You can also contact the payment processor (either Google or Apple) for support with a past purchase.
You can turn off access to purchasing on your child or teen’s device. Parents and legal guardians can control whether their children can make purchases by using parental controls available on their device. More information on how to put restrictions in place so your child or teen doesn’t accidentally make purchases for Android or iOS.
